Mesh Integration for Thin Hair & Hair Loss

The mesh integration took Europe by storm and as of yet, not many salons in the US are offering it. Krista Abad is already certified and she's using this technique on her permanent hair topper clients. Mesh integration makes it possible for some of her clients to wear a topper - and possibly hair extensions - during a period of hair loss or hair that's otherwise too sparse for hair enhancements.

What is the mesh integration method all about?

Mesh integration is a non-surgical method that blends a lightweight piece of mesh with your natural hair to create a secure base. The mesh allows the scalp to breathe and allows natural hair to continue to grow. Once in place, a hairline topper and hair extensions can be attached in various ways, including sewing, gluing, or using beads or clips, depending on the desired look.

Benefits of mesh integration for hair extensions:

This method is non-invasive and does not involve any surgery. It's a popular option for those who prefer to avoid hair transplants. The mesh allows us to recreate the look of fuller, natural-looking hair while keeping the scalp comfortable. We customize the mesh for the client's scalp and hair pattern, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit, which is essential for long-term wear. Yes, you would sleep, shower, and go on with life while wearing your extensions.

  • Keeps hair protected under the topper or extensions
  • Acts as a barrier between the hair and the attachments
  • Eases any tension or pulling on the hair shaft
  • Increases the time in between maintenance appointments

Frequently Asked Questions about Mesh Integration

What is mesh integration?

«

Mesh integration is a technique used to create a secure foundation for a topper when there isn’t enough natural hair to anchor the attachments. A fine, breathable mesh is placed over the thinning area, then secured to your existing hair and/or scalp. This mesh becomes the “base” for applying a beaded row topper, ensuring a stable, comfortable fit even when natural hair density is sparse.

Who is a good candidate for mesh integration?

«

Anyone with hair too sparse for traditional extensions—due to hair loss, damage, or medical conditions—is a candidate. You’ll need some hair to work with, but not the usual 3 inches required for other methods.

Can mesh integration work if I have alopecia or bare spots?

«

Yes. Unlike most extension methods that require even hair coverage and a minimum length to work with, mesh integration works around bare patches, making it a great option for alopecia sufferers or anyone with localized hair loss.

Is mesh integration permanent or removable?

«

It’s a semi-permanent solution. Once installed, it stays in place for several weeks or longer, with maintenance appointments typically spaced out more than other methods. But it stays in place day and night until it's removed at the salon.

Will mesh integration damage my natural hair?

«

No. In fact, mesh integration protects your natural hair by reducing tension at the roots and distributing weight evenly. It also allows your natural hair to grow underneath.

How is mesh integration different from a hair topper?

«

A hair topper sits on top of your hair and is attached with clips or a beaded row method. But a hair topper on its own is only possible if there is enough hair to attach to. Mesh integration creates the foundation so your topper and extensions can be attached.

Can I sleep and shower with mesh integration?

«

Yes. The system is designed to be worn 24/7. You can sleep, shower, and go about your daily life comfortably with the mesh in place.

How long does mesh integration last?

«

With proper care and regular maintenance, a mesh system can last several months. Your topper and extensions may need to be inspected and adjusted every 6–8 weeks.

Will the mesh be visible through my hair?

«

Not at all. The mesh is lightweight, breathable, and blends in with your scalp. It’s virtually undetectable.

Where can I get mesh integration?

«

Not many extension salons offer mesh integration. Monaco Salon owner, Krista Abad, is a hair loss specialist and offers this technique exclusively at our Bay to Bay location in South Tampa.

It starts with a private consultation with Krista. She’ll assess your hair loss, discuss your options, and design a custom solution that blends seamlessly with your hair and lifestyle. The consultation is free of charge and you're under no obligation. You can book a virtual consultation or book an in person consultation in our private setting.

Hair loss can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you're just starting to notice thinning or you're further along in your journey, there are beautiful, modern solutions available. We invite you to come in and have a conversation—no pressure, just support.
