With over 20 years of experience, Krista Abad is a world-class specialist in hair extensions and hair replacement. Her passion lies in restoring self-confidence and celebrating the unique beauty of every guest who sits in her chair. Krista’s expertise spans advanced techniques—including beaded row toppers, mesh integration, and Monaco’s signature hand-tied extensions—and she is also a respected educator, mentoring stylists from across the country.

Krista co-owns Monaco Salon with her husband, Jesus Abad, who originally launched Monaco Salon in 2007.

Will hair extensions work on short hair?

Yes. As long as your natural hair is at least 3-4 inches long, we can blend extensions seamlessly. Depending on your current layers and density, we may recommend one method over another (such as K-Tips for very short styles) to ensure the attachments remain invisible. We can determine the perfect plan during your free consultation.

Do you offer NBR extensions?

«

We do the method, not the NBR brand. We use the NBR-style install with our premium wefts, so it feels flat, comfy, and looks real. We use luxury hair like Great Lengths and HairDreams.

Will the extensions match my exact hair color?

Absolutely. We rarely take a single color out of a box and apply it. We order the closest premium match and then custom-blend, highlight, or root-shadow the extensions to ensure they mimic the dimension and tone of your natural hair perfectly.

You can book online at https://www.monacosalon.com/booking, or call 813-259-7555. You may also use the general appointment request form. Consultations are conducted with Krista and her team at our Bay to Bay location, although you may book your service with any provider, at either location.

Can you re-install hair extensions that have been worn already?

Yes, sometimes. We can re-install extensions only if the hair is 100% human hair, in good condition, and works with the methods we use.

  • If the hair was installed at Monaco, yes, as long as it still looks and feels great.
  • If you bought the hair from Monaco but took a break: yes, if it’s still in good shape.
  • If the hair was purchased/installed elsewhere: maybe - only if it matches our methods and is a brand we work with (ex, Great Lengths, Bellami, HairDreams) and is in good condition.

Keratin bond extensions: No. Once removed, they are one-time use and cannot be reinstalled.

How do I care for my extensions at home?

Home care is simple once you know the basics. The most important rules are to brush gently from ends to root, use sulfate-free professional products (like the ones in your Gift Set), and never sleep with wet hair. We will provide you with a full guide during your appointment.

Most new extension transformations start at $1,000+ and can go up based on the method, length, and amount of hair needed. Maintenance and smaller refresh appointments are priced separately. We’ll give you an exact quote at your free consultation.

Do you have a blonde hair specialist?

Damaris, Klodjana, Mabelle, Gabbi, Kristi, and Meg specialize in blonde and lightening services.

Can you remove box hair dye?

«

Box color is one of the most common reasons clients seek color correction. Depending on the situation, we may remove the color, neutralize unwanted tones, or strategically layer new color to restore balance and dimension. Results and timelines vary based on what was used and how many layers are present.

Box dye is unpredictable and difficult to remove. If you are unhappy with at-home results, call us. Our Color Correction experts can gently remove the dye and restore your hair, but we advise against experimenting further at home to avoid permanent damage.

What's the difference between highlights or balayage?

The difference is the technique and the maintenance.
• Highlights (Foils): Create precise, defined streaks of brightness.
• Balayage (Hand-Painted): Creates a soft, sun-kissed gradient. Highlights typically require maintenance every 6–8 weeks, while balayage grows out more gracefully, offering a lower-maintenance option.

Which one should I get?

The answer depends on the look you want and how often are you willing to maintain it. Ask yourself how obvious you want your highlights to be, and if you want highlights all the way to the root. Highlights will have to be maintained every 6-8 weeks, while balayage usually grows out more gracefully, making it a lower-maintenance option.

Should I wash my hair before my color appointment?
